Low Cost Cinema Build - Work in Progress

Every summer, I like to take on a project that's a bigger build than usual. This year I've been converting the old, unloved summer house at the bottom of the garden into a cinema for the family to enjoy.

It's still very much a work in progress but it's coming on nicely and it hasn't cost me very much at all... only time.

I've recorded a little video tour of the cinema, take a look below.

With the sign, I was going for a retro feel to it as this is the general theme of the whole cinema that I'm attempting to achieve. We called it Reels in the end, something short and sweet but also relevant. I'm not much of a sign writer but gave it a go with just a Sharpie pen and a painted piece of wood. I took inspiration from the Cheers TV show.

It's the tiny details that I find myself getting excited about. Last week I found these small hooks that were perfect for hanging the folding chairs when not in use, and the best bit of all is that the hooks are in the shape of chairs.

Just look at how cute they are!

There's still a bit of work to do on the place. I would like to build a proper housing for the projector and not have it resting on some old shelves that were rescues from a skip. I also want to add posters and more signage to make it look and feel like a proper cinema. You'll be pleased to know that I won't be selling over priced popcorn, it'll be free.
